There are these two white pieces at the very top of the UMD door as soon as you open the psp slim… That I believe hold the UMD door in place and one of them is missing a little piece… I believe that this is making my psp not read UMD games any more

I don’t know much about PSPs but i’d advice you to go to Circuit City seeing how there currently being liquidated and I guess everything should be pretty cheap in comparisont to their competitors =]
Actually, do those stores even offer PSP repair? Last time i tried gamestop they said they didn’t, i don’t know. The best thing to do is just use your PSP warranty, that way they’ll send you a brand new PSP. But, then again, you probably don’t want to waste it on that. I heard that if you send your PSP for repairs to Sony, they just give you a new PSP and just charge repair fees. I guess from other answers that you should try circuit city.
I’ve never known GameStop to do repairs of any kind (due to warranty issues, and because they don’t have staff capable of actually repairing anything). Circuit City is going out of business, and have fired all their repair staff. And I’m not sure Best Buy does repairs on game consoles either, again, due to warranty issues.
Your best bet would be to contact Sony directly.
