Anything that reflects light like colored marbles in clear or red in tall vases with a single flower or small fish bowl type with one single floating flower in each. Ask for donations of clear bud vases from students' moms. Everyone has spares of those. Tie a black ribbon around each vase to give them an elegant black tie look. Or just put food coloring in the water (red if that's your choice) and add a single flower. See if someone has flowers that are getting dated and buy those up because you will only need for them to stay fresh for that day.
